A self-drive photography tour is a perfect solution for you who want to explore Finland’s photo opportunities on your own!

This self-drive photography tour combines Black Grouse lek and Golden Eagle photography. The season for this tour is short: the activity of both of these highlight species overlaps only for two weeks in spring and about a month in autumn. Depending on the weather the season can be longer. In addition to the highlights, other possible species on this tour include White-tailed Eagle, Sparrohawk, Woodpeckers and smaller forest birds.

Season: 15 – 31 March and 15 September – 15 October
Group size: 1 – 4 persons

Tour duration 2 days:

Day 1.

Meet our guide in the early morning and follow him/her to our Black Grouse hide in Utajärvi. After hectic morning photo session, follow our guide to our nearby Golden Eagle hides. Spend the day in the hide and departure from the hide after dark on your own.

Day 2.

Early morning in our Black Grouse hide and the rest of the day in our Golden Eagle hide in Utajärvi. Departure from the hide after dark on your own.

Tour price includes:
2 mornings in Black Grouse hide
2 days in Golden Eagle premium hide
Guidance at hides on day 1

535 € / person when 2-4 photographers

Prices do not include accommodation, meals or transportation and we do not book those for self-drive tours – but we can provide recommendations!

Please note – it is easy to combine this self-drive tour with a night in our Eagle Owl hide!

"We did a spring photography tour to Finland with Finnature last week. Week was great although very cold - -28 degrees on some mornings was not normal for this time of the year! So Black Grouse were not active. But instead, the group visited Finnature’s Forest feeder hides for Goshawk and Eagle Owl. The group told that Finnature’s Forest feeder is the best place in the world to photograph Goshawks!"
