A self-drive photography tour is a perfect solution for you who want to explore Finland’s photo opportunities on your own!

This self-drive photography tour combines Black Grouse lek and Eagle Owl photography. Other possible species include White-tailed Eagle, Goshawk, Woodpeckers and smaller forest birds. Visit our great hides on your own and enjoy the spring feeling!

Season: 15 March – 15 May
Group size: 1- 4 persons

Tour duration 2 days:

Day 1

Very early morning in our Black Grouse hide in Utajärvi – you can easily find the hides with our video instructions. Drive to Liminka and meet our guide at Liminka Bay Visitor Center parking area at 18.00. Follow our guide to our nearby Forest feeder hides where the target species is Eagle Owl. Overnight in the caravan hides: hides have bunk beds with sleeping bags, gas heating and dry toilets and urinals.

Day 2

Stay in the hide until noon and wait for the Goshawk to visit. The tour ends at noon.

1 morning in Black Grouse hide
1 night in Forest feeder hide for Eagle Owl and Goshawk
Guidance at the Forest feeder hide and video instructions for Black Grouse hide

420 € / person when 1 photographer
390 € / person when 2-4 photographers

Prices do not include accommodation, meals or transportation and we do not book those for self-drive tours – but we can provide recommendations!

Please note – you can book additional morning sessions in Black Grouse hide 125 € / person / session or for Forest feeder 220-250 € / person when buying this self-drive tour!

Possible extensions: Ruff (from 8th May), Wolves, Wolverines, Brown Bears

So Black Grouse were not active. But instead, the group visited Finnature’s Forest feeder hides for Goshawk and Eagle Owl. The group told that Finnature’s Forest feeder is the best place in the world to photograph Goshawks!"
