FINLAND: Oulu – Kuhmo
This photography tour is timed very carefully for the northern spring! After the long winter, spring starts to arrive to Finland in April. Migrant birds are returning and resident species are actively claiming breeding territories and partners. There is still plenty of snow on the ground, and, for example, the Black Grouse is lekking on snow. Magnificent Eagle Owl and Goshawk are visiting at the site actively. This is also a great time to photograph the large carnivores of Finland on snow – Brown Bear have awaken from their winter hibernation, and while Wolverine and Wolf stay active throughout the winter, spring is a hectic time for them. With some luck we may also photograph some of the northern taiga forest owl species – Great Grey Owl or Hawk Owl.
